Chilling Final Concerts: The Unforgettable Farewells of Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Daryle Singletary, and More

  • by

There have been six unforgettable last concerts by legendary musicians such as Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Daryle Singletary. George Jones was aware that his final concert was approaching, while Daryle Singletary was not. However, this lack of awareness only adds to the haunting impact of the song he selected to conclude the night.

Following the passing of Merle Haggard, an interesting tale circulated claiming that Toby Keith had assisted him in gracefully retiring from the spotlight. However, this story turned out to be false. Toby Keith was not present during Haggard's last performance, and the individual who deceitfully led us to believe otherwise was also absent.

In reality, the actor W. Earl Brown did not attend the show where Keith assisted Haggard. He simply learned about it through word of mouth.

Taste of Country found a critique of Haggard's last show that revealed a touching moment that deserves as much recognition as the Toby Keith hero tale. This is just one of the six memories from his final concert, which are showcased in the video above and in the pictures below.

Included in this poignant video are the last performance of John Denver, the final song of Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings' made-for-TV farewell.

We absolutely love the Singletary performance. If you are already acquainted with Johnny Paycheck's "Old Violin," then you can guess the direction it took. However, if you haven't heard of it, don't worry. Just continue watching and you'll find out.
