Bryan and Pardi decided to include their families in the music video for "Cowboys and Plowboys" because the song reflects their personal backgrounds. Pardi, who is from the West Coast, portrays the cowboy while Bryan, who comes from a family of peanut farmers, plays the role of the plowboy.
Pardi mentioned in an interview with Taste of Country Nights that he and Luke both felt that the song was perfect for them to sing together. The song is centered around cowboys and farmers.
