Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd have completed their divorce process as a judge has approved the finalization of their separation.
Based on legal papers acquired by People magazine, the two country singers officially ended their relationship in Nashville on Tuesday (Jan. 30), just a short time after coming to an agreement on how to divide their assets and handle child support in early January.
The former partners have come to an agreement on how they will handle child support. As outlined in recently filed paperwork, Morris will provide $2,100 each month to Hurd and they will both share custody of their son. Additionally, they have decided to divide their assets according to the prenuptial agreement and settlement agreement they have in place.
Both Morris and Hurd have stayed quiet about their breakup on social media. When Morris appeared on the Howard Stern Show in late 2023, she mentioned that she wasn't considering dating again at that time.
She mentioned that she wants the divorce to be finalized soon, but she doesn't have the emotional energy for it at the moment. She explained that she is currently focused on writing a lot, and that's how she is processing her emotions and experiences. She added that writing songs has been her way of connecting with others, rather than traditional dating.
What was the story of how Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd first crossed paths
Morris and Hurd were working together as songwriters in 2013 when they started a romantic relationship. They continued to collaborate and eventually got engaged in 2017, getting married the following year. Over the course of the decade, they frequently performed together on stage, often singing their hit duet "Chasing After You."
Both singers used to be signed with Sony Music Nashville, but right before they filed for divorce, Morris revealed that she would be transitioning away from mainstream country music. She mentioned that she would be releasing music through the label's New York branch instead. Hurd's name is no longer found on Sony Music Nashville's website.
