Inside Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd’s Divorce: Child Support, Property Division, and Moving On

  • by

Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd have completed their divorce process after a judge has given their official approval.

Based on legal papers obtained by People magazine, the two country singers officially ended their relationship in Nashville on Tuesday (Jan. 30). This happened shortly after they came to an agreement on how to divide their property and provide for their children in early January.

The former partners have come to an agreement on how to handle financial support for their child. As stated in legal documents submitted recently, Morris will provide $2,100 every month to Hurd, and they will share custody of their son. Additionally, they have decided to divide their assets according to the prenuptial agreement and settlement terms.

Morris and Hurd have not discussed their breakup much on social media. In a late 2023 interview on the Howard Stern Show, Morris mentioned that she was not considering dating again at that time.

She expressed a desire for the divorce proceedings to be finalized, as she is currently preoccupied with writing. Writing songs has become her way of exploring relationships instead of traditional dating.

What was the story behind Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd's first meeting?

Morris and Hurd started writing songs together in 2013 and their relationship turned romantic. They continued to work together and eventually got engaged in 2017, tying the knot a year later. Over the years, they often performed together on stage, often singing their popular duet "Chasing After You."

Both singers used to have contracts with Sony Music Nashville. However, Morris recently decided to move away from traditional country music and release her music through the label's New York branch. Hurd's name is no longer on Sony Music Nashville's website.
