Nate Smith was seen spending time with pop-rock singer Avril Lavigne in Los Angeles, but they are not in a romantic relationship. Despite speculation, a reliable source close to one of them denies any romantic involvement.
They are simply acquaintances.
Both The Hollywood Curtain and TMZ released different videos taken by paparazzi, showing Smith and Lavigne spending time together. In the footage, it appears that they were skateboarding, which is a fitting activity for Lavigne, known for her song "Sk8er Boi".
A video from TMZ captures Lavigne stepping out of the back of a black pickup truck at a gas station parking lot, holding a skateboard. Shortly after, Smith joins her, dressed in his typical leather jacket and black baseball cap. He also has a skateboard, but it's evident that he is not as skilled as Lavigne – she quickly glides past him on the sidewalk while he struggles to keep up, leaning on the side of the truck for support.
A video taken at the Hollywood Curtain captures the moment when Smith and Lavigne exit Catch Steak, a steakhouse in Los Angeles. It is not completely clear if both videos were filmed on the same night, but it seems that Smith and Lavigne are dressed in similar attire. However, Lavigne would have had to take off her black hooded sweatshirt before leaving the restaurant.
According to TMZ, Smith and Lavigne were just having dinner together as friends, and possibly to talk about new music projects.
It's not entirely unexpected for Lavigne to be mingling with the country music scene. She joined Miranda Lambert on stage at the 2023 CMA Fest to perform "Kerosene" and "Sk8er Boi." Lavigne was also included in the lineup of performers at the 2022 ACM Honors ceremony in Nashville. During the event, she honored fellow Canadian Shania Twain by singing Twain's song "No One Needs to Know."
Smith is currently experiencing success in the country radio industry as his latest single, "World on Fire," is steadily rising on the charts. This song comes after his initial breakthrough with his first No. 1 hit, "Whiskey on You."
