Nate Smith was seen spending time with pop-rock singer Avril Lavigne, but they are not in a romantic relationship. The pair were spotted together in Los Angeles on Monday night, but a reliable source connected to one of them has denied any dating rumors.
They are merely acquaintances or people who have a friendly relationship.
Two different sources, The Hollywood Curtain and TMZ, both released their own videos taken by paparazzi of Smith and Lavigne spending time together. The footage suggests that they engaged in an activity that is particularly characteristic of the "Sk8er Boi" singer: skateboarding.
In a video captured by TMZ, Avril Lavigne is seen getting off the back of a black pickup truck in a gas station parking lot, holding a skateboard. Shortly after, Smith appears alongside her, wearing his typical leather jacket and black baseball cap. He also has a skateboard, but it's obvious that he is not as skilled as Lavigne when it comes to skateboarding. Lavigne effortlessly zips past him on the sidewalk, while he struggles to keep up, using the side of the truck to steady himself.
The footage obtained from the Hollywood Curtain captures Smith and Lavigne exiting Catch Steak, a popular steakhouse in Los Angeles. It is uncertain if both videos were recorded on the same evening, but it seems that Smith and Lavigne are dressed similarly. However, Lavigne would have had to take off her black hooded sweatshirt before leaving the restaurant.
According to TMZ, Smith and Lavigne were just having dinner together as friends, possibly to talk about new music collaborations.
Lavigne's involvement in the country music community is not completely unexpected. She joined Miranda Lambert on stage during the 2023 CMA Fest to perform "Kerosene" and "Sk8er Boi." Additionally, Lavigne was included in the list of performers at the 2022 ACM Honors ceremony in Nashville, where she honored fellow Canadian artist Shania Twain by performing Twain's song "No One Needs to Know."
Smith is currently experiencing success on the country radio charts with his most recent single titled "World on Fire." This song comes after his initial breakthrough hit, "Whiskey on You," which reached the top position on the charts.
