Nate Smith was seen spending time with pop-rock singer Avril Lavigne, but there is no romantic relationship between them. On Monday night (Jan. 29), they were seen together in Los Angeles. However, a reliable source connected to one of them has denied any potential romance between the two.
They are only acquaintances.
Both The Hollywood Curtain and TMZ released their own videos captured by paparazzi showing Smith and Lavigne spending time together. The footage suggests that they engaged in an activity that perfectly aligns with Lavigne's image as the "Sk8er Boi" singer: skateboarding.
In a video captured by TMZ, Avril Lavigne is seen getting out of the back of a black pickup truck at a gas station parking lot. She is holding a skateboard. Shortly after, Smith joins her, wearing his typical leather jacket and black baseball cap. He also has a skateboard, but it is evident that he is not as skilled as Lavigne. As she effortlessly glides past him on the sidewalk, he struggles to keep up, using the side of the truck to maintain his balance.
A video captured from the Hollywood Curtain displays the couple coming out of Catch Steak, a steakhouse in Los Angeles. It is uncertain whether the two videos were recorded on the same evening, but Smith and Lavigne seem to be dressed in similar attire. However, Lavigne would have had to take off her black hooded sweatshirt before departing from the dinner.
According to TMZ, Smith and Lavigne were just having dinner together as friends, possibly to talk about new music collaborations.
Lavigne's involvement in the country music community is not completely unexpected. She joined Miranda Lambert on stage at the 2023 CMA Fest to perform "Kerosene" and "Sk8er Boi." Additionally, Lavigne was included as one of the performers at the 2022 ACM Honors ceremony in Nashville, where she honored Shania Twain, a fellow Canadian, by singing Twain's "No One Needs to Know."
Smith is currently experiencing success on the country radio charts with his newest single called "World on Fire." This track comes after his initial hit, "Whiskey on You," which reached the top spot on the charts.
