In a recent interview on CBS Mornings, McEntire discussed her experience at a chili cookoff where things didn't go as planned. She acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went wrong.
She realized that she forgot to add the spices to her dish, but she tried to make up for it by adding chili powder and hatch green chilis. She was following a Texas recipe and felt confident that her dish would turn out well.
Despite being in a relationship with Linn, being his girlfriend did not prevent her from ending up in last place. However, McEntire believes that her relationship may have slightly softened the blow when the judges announced the news.
When the winner was announced, Rex, one of the judges, whispered the news to me. He expressed his regret and told me that it was not me who had won.
"Then he gave me the prize, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. So I ended up throwing it away," McEntire explains.
Putting humor aside, McEntire discussed her connection with Linn and what makes their relationship successful. They have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns starring Kenny Rogers. However, their romantic feelings for each other only developed when they reconnected in 2020. During this time, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
I once asked Rex why we hadn't gotten together sooner, and he mentioned that one reason might be because I had been married before. Rex is a fun and energetic person, while I have become more relaxed. It seems like we have come together at the perfect time.
