Reba McEntire comes in last place in a chili cooking competition, with Rex Linn as the judge. Despite being a cute couple in country music, they don't go easy on each other when it comes to cook-offs.
McEntire recently took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff, where Linn was serving as one of the judges. Despite their personal relationship, McEntire did not receive any special treatment during the judging.
McEntire actually finished in last place. As a result, she received a humorous trophy as a prize: a chili pepper being flushed down a toilet.
McEntire showed her sportsmanship by posting a video on social media of her unsuccessful cookoff experience, which included a moment of her graciously accepting the last place position.
The complete video below displays the entire event, along with some additional interesting details: Country singer Terri Clark was present and ended up in second place.
In a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her unsuccessful experience at a chili cookoff and acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
She realized that she forgot to add any spices to the dish, but she tried to make up for it by adding chili powder and hatch green chilis. She was following a recipe from Texas and was really excited about how it would turn out.
Even though Linn's girlfriend status didn't help her avoid coming in last place, McEntire believes that being in a relationship may have made it slightly easier for her to handle the news from the judges.
Rex, who was a judge, approached me and quietly told me the news. He expressed his regrets and then revealed that I was not the winner of the competition.
Then he gave me the award, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. So I reciprocated by doing the same.
Putting humor aside, McEntire discussed her connection with Linn and the reasons behind its success. Despite knowing each other for a long time and initially meeting in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns, they only started a romantic relationship in 2020. Prior to this, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
Reba McEntire once asked Rex why they hadn't gotten together sooner, and he pointed out that she had been married before. She describes Rex as fun and energetic, while she has mellowed out over time. They believe they have met at the perfect moment in their lives.
Following this, McEntire will be going to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new comedy show that will involve reuniting with members of the production team from her popular TV series, Reba.
