Reba McEntire and Rex Linn, who are known as a cute couple in country music, competed in a chili cookoff where Reba ended up placing last. Their relationship did not stop them from giving it their all in the contest.
McEntire took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff where Linn was a judge. Despite their personal relationship, it did not influence the judging process in her favor.
McEntire actually finished in last place. As a result, she received a comical trophy consisting of a chili pepper going down a toilet.
Always a gracious participant, McEntire posted a video on her social media showing her unsuccessful attempt at a cookoff, and even included a clip of her gracefully accepting her placement in last.
The complete video below captures the entire event, featuring additional enjoyable moments as well. Notably, country singer Terri Clark participated and achieved second place in the competition.
In a recent online appearance on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her unsuccessful experience at a chili cookoff and acknowledged that she has a strong understanding of what went awry.
"I accidentally forgot to add any spices," she confesses. "But I added chili powder and hatch green chilis to the dish, thinking it would be enough. It was a recipe from Texas that I was really looking forward to trying."
Even though Linn's relationship with McEntire didn't help her move up from last place, McEntire believes that being her girlfriend may have made the disappointment a bit easier to handle when the judges announced the results.
"Rex, who was one of the judges, approached me and quietly informed me. He expressed his regret and told me that I did not win the competition."
"He gave me the trophy, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. I then made my own version," McEntire explained.
Putting aside any humor, McEntire discussed her connection with Linn and why it is successful. They have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the making of the Kenny Rogers film The Gambler Returns, but their romantic feelings didn't develop until they reconnected in 2020. Prior to this, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation with Rex, McEntire wondered why they had not met earlier. Rex mentioned that one reason could be because she was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as fun and energetic, while she has become more relaxed. She believes that they have met at the perfect time in their lives.
Following this, McEntire will be traveling to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new comedy series that will bring her back together with some of the same people from her popular show, Reba.
