Reba McEntire Places Last in Hillbilly Chili Cookoff Judged by Rex Linn: Watch the Hilarious Results

  • by

Reba McEntire came in last place in a chili cookoff that was judged by Rex Linn. Despite being a cute couple in country music, they don't go easy on each other in cooking competitions.

McEntire took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff where Linn served as a judge. Despite their personal connection, it did not influence the judging process in any way.

McEntire actually ended up in last place. As a result, she received a comical trophy as a prize: a chili pepper being flushed down a toilet.

Always up for a challenge, McEntire posted a video on her social media showing her participation in a cookoff where she did not win, and she shared a clip of her humbly coming in last place.

The complete video below captures the entire event, with some additional interesting moments included. Country artist Terri Clark also participated and came in second place.

McEntire talked about her unsuccessful chili cookoff experience during a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, and acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went awry.

"I forgot to add any spices to the dish," she confessed. "I added chili powder and hatch green chilis, thinking it would be enough. It was a recipe from Texas that I was really looking forward to trying."

Even though Linn's relationship with McEntire didn't help her avoid coming in last place, McEntire believes that being his girlfriend may have made the disappointment easier to handle when the judges announced the results.

"Rex, one of the judges, approached me and quietly revealed the news. He expressed his regret and when I asked if he would tell me the winner, he replied that it was not me."

"Then he gave me the award, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. And that's how I ended up with the strange trophy," McEntire explains.

Setting aside humor, McEntire discussed her bond with Linn and the reasons behind its success. They have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the filming of a Kenny Rogers movie. However, their romantic relationship did not begin until they reconnected in 2020. Prior to this, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.

During a conversation with Rex, McEntire wondered why they didn't start their relationship sooner. Rex pointed out that one reason could have been because McEntire was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as fun and full of energy, while she has become more relaxed. She believes that they have come together at the perfect time in their lives.

Following that, McEntire will be going to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new television show that will involve collaborating with some of the same people who worked on her popular series, Reba.
