Reba McEntire came in last place in a chili cookoff that was judged by Rex Linn. Despite being a cute couple in country music, they don't go easy on each other when it comes to competition in cooking contests.
McEntire recently took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff where Linn served as one of the judges. Despite their personal connection, McEntire did not receive any special treatment during the judging.
McEntire actually came in last place in the competition. As a result, she received a humorous trophy as a prize: a chili pepper being flushed down a toilet.
Always willing to have a good time, McEntire posted a video on her social media showing her participation in a cooking competition where she didn't win, but showed good sportsmanship by accepting last place gracefully.
The video below captures the entire event and also features some interesting highlights, such as country singer Terri Clark participating and finishing in second place.
In a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her unsuccessful experience at a chili cookoff and acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
She realized that she forgot to add the spices to the dish she was making, but she tried to make up for it by adding chili powder and hatch green chilis. She was following a recipe from Texas and was really enthusiastic about how it would turn out.
Even though Linn's girlfriend status didn't improve her ranking, McEntire believes that being in a relationship may have lessened the impact of receiving the news from the judges.
During the competition, Rex, one of the judges, told me quietly that I did not win. He expressed his apologies and I asked him if he could reveal the winner, to which he responded that it was not me.
Then he gave me the trophy, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. So I ended up throwing it away," McEntire explained further.
Putting jokes aside, McEntire discussed her strong bond with Linn and explained why their relationship is successful. They have been acquainted since 1991 when they first met while working on the movie The Gambler Returns. Although they didn't develop romantic feelings until they reconnected in 2020. Prior to that, McEntire was married to her husband Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation with Rex, McEntire expressed curiosity about why they didn't meet sooner. Rex pointed out that one reason could be that she was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as fun and full of energy, while she has become more relaxed. She believes that they have crossed paths at the perfect moment in their lives.
Following this, McEntire will be traveling to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new comedy series that will reunite her with some of the individuals who were part of her popular show, Reba.
