Reba McEntire came in last place in a chili cookoff that was judged by Rex Linn. Despite being a cute couple in country music, they don't go easy on each other in cooking competitions.
McEntire took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff, where Linn served as one of the judges. Despite their personal relationship, McEntire did not receive any special treatment during the judging.
Believe it or not, McEntire ended up in last place! As a result, she received a humorous trophy as a prize: a chili pepper going down a toilet.
Always a gracious participant, McEntire posted a video on her social media showcasing her experience in a cookoff where she didn't win, even including a moment where she gracefully accepted coming in last.
The video below captures the entire event, showcasing various interesting moments. It also features country singer Terri Clark, who came in second place.
In a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, Reba McEntire discussed her experience at a chili cookoff where she failed, acknowledging that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
She realized that she forgot to add any spices to the dish she was making. Despite this, she added chili powder and hatch green chilis, thinking it would still turn out well as it was a Texas recipe. She was very enthusiastic about how it would turn out.
Even though Linn's girlfriend status didn't help her avoid being in last place, McEntire believes that being in a relationship may have softened the disappointment when the judges announced the results.
During the competition, Rex, who was a judge, approached me and quietly revealed that I had not won. I asked him if he would disclose the winner, and he responded apologetically that it was not me.
"Then he gave me the award, which turned out to be a chili pepper inside a toilet. And that's when I realized I had been pranked," McEntire explained.
Putting humor aside, McEntire discussed her connection with Linn and what makes their relationship successful. They have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns with Kenny Rogers. However, their romantic feelings didn't develop until they reconnected in 2020. During this time, McEntire was married to her long-time spouse Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation with Rex, Reba McEntire expressed her curiosity about why they didn't connect sooner. Rex pointed out that one reason could have been because she was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as fun and energetic, while she has become more mellow. She believes they have come together at the perfect moment in their lives.
Following this, McEntire will be traveling to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new television show that will reunite her with some of the individuals who were involved in her popular series, Reba.
