Reba McEntire ends up in last place in a chili cookoff that was judged by Rex Linn. Despite being a cute couple in country music, Reba and Rex don't show any mercy to each other in cooking competitions.
McEntire recently took part in a Hillbilly Chili Cookoff, where Linn served as one of the judges. Despite their personal connection, it did not influence the judging process in her favor.
McEntire actually finished in last place. As a result, she received a humorous trophy: a chili pepper being flushed down a toilet.
Always a good sport, McEntire posted a video on social media of her not-so-successful cookoff experience, showing her gracefully accepting the fact that she came in last place.
The video below provides a complete overview of what happened, with some additional interesting details. Terri Clark, a country music artist, was also present and came in second place.
In a recent interview on CBS Mornings, McEntire talked about her unsuccessful experience in a chili cookoff and acknowledged that she has a good understanding of what went awry.
She realized that she forgot to include all the spices in her dish. Despite this, she added chili powder and hatch green chilis, thinking it would still turn out well. It was a recipe from Texas that she was really enthusiastic about.
Even though Linn was in last place, her relationship with McEntire likely softened the blow of the news from the judges.
"Rex, who was one of the judges, approached me and quietly informed me. He expressed his sympathies and then revealed that I was not the winner of the competition."
Then he gave me the trophy, which turned out to be a chili pepper in the toilet. And so I made a joke about it being mine taking a dump," McEntire explains.
Putting jokes aside, McEntire discussed her relationship with Linn and what makes it successful. They have been acquainted for a long time, meeting in 1991 during the filming of The Gambler Returns, but their romantic connection didn't develop until 2020. Prior to this, McEntire was married to Narvel Blackstock, with whom she has a son named Shelby.
During a conversation, McEntire asked Rex why they didn't start their relationship earlier. Rex mentioned that one reason could be because she was previously married. McEntire describes Rex as fun and energetic, while she has become more relaxed. She believes they have met at the perfect time in their lives.
Up next, McEntire will be going to Las Vegas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Additionally, she is working on a new sitcom that will bring her back together with some of the people who worked on her popular TV show, Reba.
