Exploring Acustica Audio’s Amber 4 Ultra Plug-In Suite: A Deep Dive into the Enhanced EQ, Compressor, and Preamp Models

  • by

You have arrived at the Amber 4 Ultra plug-in suite created by Acustica Audio.

The newest release from Acustica Audio utilizes their Hyper technology and new Aria engine to offer an updated version of their well-liked Amber 4 plug-in suite. Amber 4 Ultra includes accurate representations of Class A equipment such as two EQs, a compressor, and a preamp, all featuring improved visuals and audio quality.

The suite includes two EQ plug-ins called Amber 4 Ultra and Amber 4 Stereo Ultra. Both have the same controls, but the Stereo version has separate controls for each channel. Each plug-in has four bands with frequency and gain controls. The low- and high-mid bands have a width parameter, while the low- and high-frequency bands have a filter type control that allows users to switch between peak and shelf filters.

Amber 4 Ultra offers a continuous control feature that allows users to adjust mid, left/right, and side signals. On the other hand, Amber4 Stereo Ultra allows separate control over the left/mid and right/side channels. According to Acustica, the former is a highly powerful parametric EQ with low noise in the digital realm, while the latter is praised for its musical transparency in their collection of EQ options.

The Amber 4 Comp Ultra simulates a Class-A opto compressor using Hyper technology to provide a clear dynamics processor. It includes standard compressor controls as well as features like side-chain filtering, adjustable stereo linking, a blend control for mid, left/right, and side signals, and built-in parallel compression.

Amber 4 Pre Ultra completes the collection with at least eight emulations of Class A preamp designs. The collection includes both solid-state and valve-based units, all with a straightforward set of controls including input and output levels, Preamp (gain), and Filter (high-pass).

The new Aira engine has enabled each plug-in to now have dynamic and real-time metering displays, along with the company's Anti-Aliasing algorithm. Additionally, the plug-ins now have lower CPU consumption compared to previous versions.

System Requirements

Amber 4 Ultra can be used on computers running Windows 10 or 11, and on Mac computers running macOS 10.15 or newer. It is compatible with various plug-in versions including VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX.

You can purchase the Amber 4 Ultra now for an initial price of €89 until 26 February 2024. After this date, the price will increase to €209.
