Exploring the Enhanced Features of Acustica Audio’s Amber 4 Ultra Plug-In Suite: A Review and Overview

  • by

You have arrived at the page for the Amber 4 Ultra plug-in suite created by Acustica Audio.

The newest release from Acustica Audio utilizes their Hyper technology and Aria engine to offer an upgraded version of their well-known Amber 4 plug-in suite. Amber 4 Ultra features accurate models of Class a gear, such as EQs, a compressor, and a preamp, with improved graphics and audio quality.

The suite includes two EQ plug-ins, Amber 4 Ultra and Amber 4 Stereo Ultra. Each plug-in has a matching set of controls, with the Stereo variant having separate controls for each channel. Both plug-ins have four bands with frequency and gain controls. The low- and high-mid bands have a width parameter, while the low- and high-frequency bands have a control to switch between peak and shelf filter types.

Amber 4 Ultra offers a continuous control for adjusting mid, left/right, and side signals, while Amber4 Stereo Ultra allows for separate control over the left/mid and right/side channels. Acustica claims that the former is a highly effective, low-noise parametric EQ in the digital realm, and they assure that the latter is one of the most sonically transparent EQ options they offer.

The Amber 4 Comp Ultra emulates a Class-A opto compressor unit using Hyper technology to provide a clear dynamics processor. It includes typical compressor controls as well as features like side-chain filtering, adjustable stereo linking, a blend control for mid, left/right, and side signals, and built-in parallel compression.

The Amber 4 Pre Ultra is a collection that includes at least eight emulations of Class A preamp designs, featuring both solid-state and valve-based units. Each unit has a basic set of controls for input and output levels, as well as Preamp (gain) and Filter (high-pass) options.

The plug-ins now have dynamic and real-time metering displays thanks to the Aira engine. They also include the company's Anti-Aliasing algorithm and consume less CPU power than before.

System Requirements

Amber 4 Ultra can be used on computers with Windows 10 or 11, and on Mac computers with macOS 10.15 or newer. It is compatible with VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX plug-in formats.

The Amber 4 Ultra is currently on the market and is being sold at a discounted price of €89 until February 26, 2024. After this date, the price will increase to €209.
