During a recent episode of her talk show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she had been told she was at risk of developing diabetes before she started her weight loss journey. However, she did not immediately make changes to her lifestyle.
Clarkson shared with her guest, Kevin James, that she was informed she had pre-diabetes. She mentioned that she wasn't surprised by the diagnosis as she was slightly overweight.
"They told me that I was at risk for developing diabetes, but I didn't take it seriously at first. I waited two years before deciding to take action."
In a recent interview, Clarkson discussed her weight loss and attributed it to following her doctor's advice. She also mentioned that moving to New York City helped improve her mental and physical health, leading to healthier habits.
She expressed her dissatisfaction with L.A. and stated that she had been feeling this way for a few years. She mentioned that she was in need of a new beginning.
Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were struggling. The family likes to stay active by taking advantage of the city's walkability and bringing their dogs to the park.
She credits her weight loss to her diet, saying that she eats a balanced mix of foods and follows a protein-based diet most of the time because it works well for her.
"I come from Texas, so I have a preference for meat – my apologies to all the vegetarians out there!" Clarkson humorously remarked.
The singer made a decision to move to New York and also move her TV show there following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, which was officially completed in early 2022.
