During a recent episode of her talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she was informed she was at risk for diabetes before she decided to start losing weight.
Clarkson shared with her guest, Kevin James, that she was informed she was pre-diabetic, which didn't come as a surprise to her as she admitted to being slightly overweight.
"They told me that I was at risk of developing diabetes, but I joked and said I wasn't there yet," she explains with a chuckle. "After two years, I finally decided to take action and address the issue."
Clarkson recently mentioned that she lost weight by following her doctor's advice and living in New York City helped her develop healthier habits.
She mentioned that she had been feeling very unhappy in Los Angeles for a number of years and was in need of a new beginning.
Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were also not thriving where they were previously. The family likes to stay active by taking advantage of the city's walkable areas and bringing their dogs to the park.
She believes that her weight loss is mainly due to her diet, in which she consumes a balanced mix of healthy foods. She mentioned that she sticks to her diet about 90% of the time, as she believes that a high-protein diet is beneficial for her overall health.
Clarkson jokingly stated that she is a fan of meat because she is from Texas, apologizing to all vegetarians.
After her divorce from Brandon Blackstock was finalized in early 2022, the singer made the decision to move to New York and also relocate her TV show.
