During a recent episode of her talk show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she was told she was at risk for developing diabetes before she started her weight loss journey. However, she didn't start losing weight right away.
Clarkson shared with her guest, actor Kevin James, that she was informed she was pre-diabetic. She mentioned that she wasn't surprised by the news, as she acknowledged being slightly overweight.
"They told me I was close to being diabetic, but not quite there yet," she explains, chuckling. "I waited two years before deciding to take action."
Recently, Clarkson discussed how she lost weight by following her doctor's advice and adopting healthier habits after moving to New York City.
She mentioned that she had been feeling very unhappy in Los Angeles for a few years and was in need of a new beginning.
Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were also not thriving there. The family likes to stay active by walking around the city and taking their dogs to the park.
She credits her weight loss to the way she eats, mentioning that she consumes a balanced diet and is able to stick to it most of the time because a high-protein diet works well for her.
"I come from Texas, so I have a preference for meat – my apologies to all the vegetarians out there!" Clarkson humorously remarked.
The singer made a decision to move her TV show to New York after her divorce from Brandon Blackstock was finalized in early 2022.
