During a recent episode of her talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she had been diagnosed as pre-diabetic before deciding to lose weight. However, she did not make this decision right away.
"I was informed that I was pre-diabetic," Clarkson mentioned to her guest Kevin James from King of Queens. "It wasn't a surprise to me. I knew I was slightly overweight."
"They told me that I was at risk of developing diabetes, but I didn't take it seriously at first. After two years, I finally decided to take action."
Recently, Clarkson discussed her weight loss, mentioning that she lost weight by following her doctor's advice. She also mentioned that moving to New York City helped her develop healthier habits for both her mind and body.
She mentioned that she had been feeling very unhappy in Los Angeles for a few years and was in need of a new beginning.
Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were also not thriving in their previous location. The family likes to stay active by taking advantage of the city's walkable areas and bringing their dogs to the park.
She credits her weight loss to her diet, mentioning that she follows a healthy mix of foods. She stated that she sticks to this diet 90 percent of the time because a high-protein diet works well for her.
As a girl from Texas, I have a preference for meat, which may not sit well with vegetarians worldwide, Clarkson humorously remarked.
The singer made a decision to move to New York and also move her TV show following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, which was officially completed in early 2022.
