During an episode of her talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she was told she was at risk for developing diabetes before making the decision to lose weight. However, she did not start losing weight right away.
Clarkson shared with her guest, Kevin James, that she was informed she was at risk for diabetes. She wasn't surprised by this news, as she admitted to being slightly overweight.
"They told me that I was at risk for developing diabetes, but I didn't take it seriously at first," she said with a chuckle. "I waited two years before deciding to take action."
Recently, Clarkson discussed her weight loss and mentioned that she lost weight by following her doctor's advice. She also mentioned that moving to New York City helped her develop healthier habits both mentally and physically.
She mentioned that she had been feeling very unhappy in Los Angeles for a few years and felt the need for a new beginning.
Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were not adjusting well. The family likes to stay active by taking advantage of the city's walkable areas and bringing their dogs to the park.
She credits her weight loss to her diet, stating that she consumes a balanced and healthy mix of foods. She mentions that she follows a protein-rich diet most of the time because it works well for her.
Being from Texas, Clarkson humorously mentioned her love for meat and apologized to any vegetarians out there.
The singer made a decision to move, which also involved moving her TV show to New York, following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, which was completed in the beginning of 2022.
