Kelly Clarkson Opens Up About Pre-Diabetes Diagnosis and Weight Loss Journey

  • by

Kelly Clarkson shared on her talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, that she was informed she was at risk of developing diabetes before she decided to lose weight. However, she did not start losing weight right away.

Clarkson shared with her guest, Kevin James, that she was informed she was pre-diabetic. She wasn't surprised by the diagnosis as she admitted to being slightly overweight.

"They informed me that I was pre-diabetic, meaning I was close to developing diabetes. At first, I didn't take it seriously and thought I wasn't there yet," she explains with a chuckle. "But after waiting for two years, I finally decided to take action and address the issue."

Clarkson recently discussed her weight loss, mentioning that she lost weight by following her doctor's advice. She also credited her move to New York City for helping her develop healthier habits, both mentally and physically.

She expressed her discontent with living in L.A. for many years and felt the need for a new beginning.

Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were also not thriving there. The family enjoys being active by taking advantage of the city's walkable areas and bringing their dogs to the park.

She credits her weight loss to her diet, saying that she eats a balanced mix of foods and sticks to it most of the time because a high-protein diet works well for her.

"I'm from Texas, so I have a preference for meat – my apologies to all the vegetarians out there!" Clarkson playfully remarked.

The singer made the decision to move her TV show to New York after her divorce from Brandon Blackstock was finalized in early 2022.
