Kelly Clarkson’s Health Journey: From Pre-Diabetic Diagnosis to Weight Loss and Happiness

During a recent episode of her talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she was informed she was at risk of developing diabetes before making the decision to lose weight. However, she did not start her weight loss journey right away.

"I found out that I was pre-diabetic. That's basically what happened," Clarkson explains to her guest, King of Queens actor Kevin James. "I wasn't surprised. I was just slightly above my ideal weight."

"They told me that I was at risk for developing diabetes, but I didn't take it seriously at first. After two years, I finally decided to take action and address the issue."

Recently, Clarkson discussed her weight loss and credited it to following her doctor's advice. She also mentioned that moving to New York City helped her develop healthier habits, both mentally and physically.

She expressed that she was feeling very unsatisfied while living in Los Angeles for a few years and wanted to begin anew.

Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were also not thriving in their previous location. The family likes to stay active by taking advantage of the city's walkability and bringing their dogs to the park.

She credits her weight loss to the way she eats, mentioning that she follows a healthy diet with a good balance of protein. She shared that she sticks to her diet around 90% of the time because she knows it is beneficial for her health.

Clarkson jokingly stated that she is from Texas and enjoys eating meat, apologizing to vegetarians around the world.

The singer made a decision to move and also moved her TV show to New York after going through a divorce from Brandon Blackstock, which was officially completed in early 2022.
