During a recent episode of her talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she was told she was at risk for developing diabetes before deciding to lose weight. However, she did not immediately take action to address this diagnosis.
Clarkson shared with her guest Kevin James that she was informed she was at risk for developing diabetes because she was slightly overweight. This news didn't come as a surprise to her.
"They told me that I was pre-diabetic, just on the edge of being diabetic. At first, I didn't take it seriously and thought I wasn't there yet," she said with a chuckle. "But after two years, I finally decided to take action and address the issue."
Recently, Clarkson discussed how she lost weight by following her doctor's advice and credited her move to New York City for helping her develop healthier habits.
She mentioned that she had been feeling very unhappy in Los Angeles for a few years and was in need of a new beginning.
In addition, Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because she felt they were not thriving where they were before. The family appreciates the city's walkability and often takes their dogs to the park to stay active.
She credits her weight loss to her diet, mentioning that she consumes a balanced diet and follows it 90 percent of the time because a protein-rich diet benefits her health.
As someone from Texas, Clarkson humorously mentioned her preference for meat over vegetables, playfully apologizing to vegetarians worldwide.
After getting divorced from Brandon Blackstock in early 2022, the singer made a significant decision to move her TV show to New York.
