During a recent episode of her talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she was told she was at risk for developing diabetes before she decided to start losing weight. However, she did not start her weight loss journey right away.
Clarkson informed her guest, Kevin James, on her show that she had been diagnosed as pre-diabetic. She wasn't surprised by the news, as she acknowledged being slightly overweight.
"They told me that I was at risk of developing diabetes, but I didn't take it seriously at first. It took me two years to finally decide to take action and make changes."
Recently, Clarkson talked about how she lost weight by following her doctor's advice and moving to New York City helped her develop healthier habits both mentally and physically.
She mentioned that she had been feeling very dissatisfied in Los Angeles for a few years and was in need of a new beginning.
Clarkson moved with her two children to the West Coast because they were not adjusting well there. The family likes to stay active by taking advantage of the city's walkability and bringing their dogs to the park.
She credits her weight loss to her diet, saying that she consumes a balanced and healthy mix of foods. She mentioned that she follows a protein-based diet most of the time, as it is beneficial for her overall health.
"I come from Texas, so I have a preference for meat – my apologies to all the vegetarians out there!" Clarkson jokingly stated.
After going through a divorce with Brandon Blackstock in early 2022, the singer made the decision to move and also shift her TV show to New York.
