According to a report from Variety, there is a possibility that Tracy Chapman will be making a rare public appearance at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she will reportedly perform alongside Luke Combs.
According to insiders familiar with the artists, Variety has revealed that Chapman and Luke Combs will perform "Fast Car" together. This song, originally released by Chapman in the late 1980s, tells the story of a couple trying to break free from poverty. Combs included a cover of the song on his album Gettin' Old in 2023, and it quickly became a hit on country radio.
If Chapman decides to perform at the Grammys, it will be unexpected and probably one of the most discussed moments of the event. According to Variety, she has only been seen performing on camera three times since 2009, when she finished her last tour.
Combs has openly expressed his desire to perform "Fast Car" with its original songwriter and singer. His team stated in July that although there were no current plans for a collaboration with Chapman, Combs would be excited if the opportunity presented itself.

Combs' song "Fast Car" has been nominated for Best Country Solo Performance at the Grammys. This nomination is his seventh at the awards show. If he wins, it will be his first Grammy award.
