According to a report from Variety, there is a possibility that Tracy Chapman may make a rare public appearance at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she is expected to perform alongside Luke Combs.
According to insiders familiar with the situation, Chapman and Luke Combs are set to perform "Fast Car" together. The song, originally released by Chapman in the late 1980s, tells the story of a couple trying to break free from poverty. Combs included a cover of the song on his Gettin' Old album in 2023, which helped it reach the top of the country radio charts.
If Chapman does decide to perform at the Grammys, it will be unexpected and probably one of the highlights of the evening. Variety reports that she has only appeared on camera three times since 2009, when she finished her last tour.
Combs has openly expressed his desire to perform "Fast Car" with the original songwriter and recording artist. His team stated in July that while there were no current plans for a collaboration with Chapman, Combs would be thrilled if the opportunity presented itself.
