The lead singer of Sugar Ray has verified that Kid Rock's lyrics about getting more attention than Mark McGrath were accurate.
The words were taken from Rock's song "Cocky" from his album with the same title released in 2001. The specific part of the song contains the following lyrics: "Do you even know who I am? I am Kid Rock from the traditional era. I have more wealth than Matchbox Twenty and I attract more attention than Mark McGrath."
The question that has been around for over twenty years was finally answered recently. The process began when Rock Feed asked on social media whether Kid Rock really had more success with dating than Mark McGrath.
Shortly after, well-known YouTuber Finn McKenty proposed that Mark McGrath should be the one to resolve the argument, and he also mentioned and tagged the lead singer of Sugar Ray.
McGrath responded to the question with a good sense of humor, confirming that the statement was true and giving credit for rhyming "ass" with his name. The singer communicated this response through X (formerly known as Twitter).

If you were curious, Matchbox Twenty has not responded to Rock's claim. It would be intriguing to compare the financial success of both bands, considering they have been active in four different decades.
