Lead singer of Sugar Ray confirms that Kid Rock's lyrics about getting more attention from women than Mark McGrath were accurate.
The lyrics were taken from a song called "Cocky" by Rock in 2001, which was part of his album with the same title. In this particular stanza, the lyrics talk about how the singer is Kid Rock from the old school, boasting about having more money than Matchbox Twenty and getting more attention from women than Mark McGrath.
The question that had been unanswered for over twenty years was finally addressed through social media. Rock Feed initiated the conversation by asking if Kid Rock really had more romantic encounters than Mark McGrath.
Shortly after, well-known YouTuber Finn McKenty proposed that Mark McGrath should be the one to resolve the argument, and he also mentioned the Sugar Ray vocalist in his post.
Shortly after, McGrath responded to the question in a lighthearted manner, confirming that the person did indeed rhyme "ass" with his last name. He joked about it and clarified any confusion through X (formerly Twitter).

If you were curious, Matchbox Twenty has not responded to Rock's brag about their longevity in the music industry. It would be interesting to see how their financial success compares, considering both bands have been popular for four decades.
