The lead singer of Sugar Ray has verified that Kid Rock was truthful in his lyrics about getting more attention than Mark McGrath.
The lyrics originated from Kid Rock's song "Cocky" released in 2001 on his album with the same title. In this particular verse, Kid Rock proclaims his identity and boasts about his success by comparing himself to other musicians.
The answer to a question that has been around for over 20 years was finally found. It all began when Rock Feed asked on social media if Kid Rock really had more success with women than Mark McGrath.
Shortly after that, well-known YouTuber Finn McKenty proposed that Mark McGrath should be the one to resolve the argument, and he also mentioned the Sugar Ray vocalist in his post.
McGrath responded to the question with a sense of humor, confirming that the person in question did indeed rhyme "ass" with "McGrath". This response was shared through X (formerly known as Twitter).

If you were curious, Matchbox Twenty has not responded to Rock's other claim. It would be interesting to compare the financials of both bands, considering they have been successful in four separate decades.
