Super Bowl 58: The Most Expensive Ticket in History – What’s Driving the High Prices?

  • by

Super Bowl 58 is expected to have the highest ticket prices ever. Only those with a lot of money to spare will be able to attend this year's game.

On Thursday, the lowest-priced single ticket available on the ticket resale website TickPick was $8,000. This ticket would provide a seat in the upper 300 section, although it is important to note that the site does guarantee a seat at that price.

If the current prices remain steady, this year's Super Bowl ticket could become the most expensive one ever sold. The most expensive Super Bowl ticket to date was for the 2020 game, with an average price of $6,370. One of the main reasons for the high price that year was the fact that the home team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, were playing in the game. However, that is not the case for this year's Super Bowl.

The upcoming Super Bowl will be the first one ever hosted in Las Vegas. Experts believe this unique location is causing ticket prices to increase as fans are eager to enjoy a weekend in Sin City culminating in the biggest sports event globally.

In case you were curious, the average price of a ticket to the inaugural Super Bowl was $12.

The location plays a significant role in attracting fans of the 49ers, as shown by data from StubHub. The data reveals that 26 percent of ticket sales come from California, where fans have a shorter distance to travel to see their beloved team. In contrast, Kansas and Missouri together account for only 7 percent of ticket sales on the website.

We should also consider the influence of Taylor Swift. Her presence at the event may attract a larger number of female fans than usual.

Regardless of how you enter, the Allegiant Stadium with 65,000 seats will be filled to capacity. Super Bowl 58 is scheduled to start on Sunday, February 11 at 6:30PM Eastern Time.
