Walmart is planning to expand its presence by opening new large stores and adding electric vehicle charging stations at some of its current locations.

According to CNBC, the company plans to construct or transform over 150 "big-box" stores in the United States within the next five years. The Associated Press noted that Walmart has not launched any new stores in the last three years.

What is the appearance of a "large-format" Walmart store? Walmart has released press images of its Supercenter design for these planned stores, but has not disclosed the specific cities where they will be located.

Walmart announced that they will be implementing their "Store of the Future" concept in various locations, which will feature more displays and QR codes for customers to scan for more information about products. Prior to this announcement, Walmart was already in the process of remodeling 650 locations to include this concept.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Walmart president and CEO John Furner emphasized the significant financial investments the company has made in labor, supplies, and tax revenue for the benefit of local communities.

CNBC reported that the company chose not to disclose the price of the stores.

Walmart has also stated that the new stores will prioritize sustainability in their design. These locations will feature energy-efficient lighting and equipment throughout.

Aside from focusing on sustainability measures within its stores, Walmart is also planning to make changes to its parking lot. They have announced intentions to install fast-charging stations for electric cars.

Walmart is planning to create a widespread network of affordable electric vehicle charging stations across the country. This initiative aims to make owning an electric vehicle more convenient and accessible for both Walmart customers and employees.

According to CNBC, Walmart has over 4,600 stores in the United States and has a workforce of nearly 1.6 million employees.
