Darius Rucker Arrested on Drug Charges: What This Means for His Music Career and Summer Tour

Singer Darius Rucker has been taken into custody for drug-related offenses.

According to sources, country singer Darius Rucker was arrested on drug charges in Williamson County, Tennessee on Thursday. He was able to post a $10,500 bond and was released on the same day.

Rucker, a well-known country music artist and lead singer of the band Hootie & the Blowfish in the 1990s, has been accused of simple possession, exchanging drugs casually, and breaking registration laws. Local news source WSMV has reported on these charges.

According to a statement from Darius Rucker's attorney, Mark Puryear, Rucker is working closely with authorities in regards to misdemeanor charges.

Rucker will be joining Hootie & the Blowfish on their Summer Camp With Trucks tour starting on May 30 in Dallas. This tour, featuring band members Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, and Jim "Soni" Sonefeld, will be the band's first full tour since 2019.

Rucker was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December, where he was accompanied by his bandmates. Rucker expressed his gratitude for the honor, stating that achieving such recognition was beyond his wildest dreams growing up in South Carolina. He emphasized that all he ever wanted was to be a singer, and to now have a star on the Walk of Fame was a significant milestone in his life.

During the month of April, Rucker attended the CMT Music Awards to pay tribute to how the pop music of the 1990s has impacted modern country music.
