Darius Rucker’s Arrest on Drug Charges: What It Means for His Career and Summer Tour with Hootie & the Blowfish

Darius Rucker has been taken into custody for drug-related offenses.

Darius Rucker was reportedly arrested for drug charges in Williamson County, Tennessee, and was later released on a $10,500 bond on the same day.

Rucker, a well-known country music artist and the lead singer of the band Hootie & the Blowfish from the 1990s, has been accused of possessing drugs, exchanging them casually, and breaking registration laws according to a report from local news source WSMV.

"Darius Rucker is working closely with law enforcement regarding minor charges," stated Rucker's lawyer, Mark Puryear, in a message to Rolling Stone.

Rucker is ready to go on tour with Hootie & the Blowfish this summer for their Summer Camp With Trucks tour, which kicks off on May 30 in Dallas. This tour, featuring band members Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, and Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, will be Hootie & the Blowfish's first full tour since 2019.
