Exploring the Enhanced Audio Performance of Acustica Audio’s Amber 4 Ultra Plug-in Suite

  • by

You have arrived at the Amber 4 Ultra plug-in suite by Acustica Audio.

The newest release from Acustica Audio utilizes their Hyper technology and new Aria engine to offer an upgraded version of their well-known Amber 4 plug-in suite. Amber 4 Ultra features accurate models of Class A equipment such as two EQs, a compressor, and a preamp, all with improved graphics and audio quality.

Two EQ plug-ins included in the suite are Amber 4 Ultra and Amber 4 Stereo Ultra. Each plug-in has a set of controls, with the Stereo version having separate controls for each channel. There are four bands in total, each with frequency and gain controls. The low- and high-mid bands have a width parameter, while the low- and high-frequency bands have a control to switch between peak and shelf filter types.

Amber 4 Ultra and Amber 4 Stereo Ultra both offer unique controls for targeting different audio signals. According to Acustica, Amber 4 Ultra is a highly effective parametric EQ with low noise, while Amber 4 Stereo Ultra provides transparent EQ options for left/mid and right/side channels.

The Amber 4 Comp Ultra emulates a Class-A opto compressor unit using Hyper technology to provide a clear dynamics processor. It includes standard compressor parameters as well as features like side-chain filtering, stereo linking, and blend controls for mid, left/right, and side signals. Additionally, it has built-in parallel compression for added versatility.

The Amber 4 Pre Ultra includes a variety of emulations of Class A preamp designs, offering both solid-state and valve-based options. The units feature a straightforward set of controls for adjusting input and output levels, as well as Preamp (gain) and Filter (high-pass) settings.

The updated Aira engine allows each plug-in to have dynamic and real-time metering displays, along with the company's Anti-Aliasing algorithm. Additionally, the plug-ins have lower CPU usage compared to their previous versions.

System Requirements

Amber 4 Ultra is compatible with computers running Windows 10 or 11, and Mac computers running macOS 10.15 and newer. It offers versions of the plug-in in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
