  • by

Jason Isbell performed a cover of 'Wanted Dead or Alive' at a tribute concert for Jon Bon Jovi. The performance was well-received and showcased Isbell's impressive guitar skills. The event was covered by Joseph Hudak.

At the MusiCares tribute to Jon Bon Jovi in Los Angeles, Joseph Hudak noticed that just by looking at Jason Isbell's outline, it was easy to guess which song he was going to play. Isbell was wearing a big hat and a long coat, and holding a distinctive double-neck guitar, all indicating that he was going to perform "Wanted Dead or Alive."

Isbell recognized and admitted on Instagram that it is easy to tell which Bon Jovi song he performed just by looking at the picture he posted.

Isbell, although more similar to Richie Sambora than JBJ, performed energetically and passionately while singing about seeing many faces and rocking out. His rendition of "Dead or Alive" was made memorable by his impressive guitar solo, giving it an Eighties nostalgia feel. Isbell's vocals were strong, but it was his guitar skills that truly stood out in the performance.

Jon Bon Jovi was honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year, joining previous recipients such as Joni Mitchell, Lionel Richie, Dolly Parton, and Bruce Springsteen. Despite recently losing his mother, Springsteen attended the event to support his fellow New Jersey native. Both artists performed together on stage, singing Bon Jovi's country hit "Who Says You Can't Go Home" and Springsteen's "The Promised Land."
