Just by looking at Jason Isbell's outline, it was obvious which song he was going to play at the MusiCares event honoring Jon Bon Jovi in Los Angeles. He was wearing a big hat, a long coat, and holding a double-neck guitar, giving away that he was going to perform "Wanted Dead or Alive."

Isbell admitted on Instagram that it is easy to tell which Bon Jovi song he covered just by looking at a picture he posted on Saturday.

Isbell may have looked more like Richie Sambora than JBJ, but he gave a great performance, fully embodying the lyrics about experiencing many different situations and performing them all with passion. It's well known that Isbell has a great singing voice, but it was the impressive guitar solo he played that really made his rendition of "Dead or Alive" stand out as a nostalgic throwback to the 1980s.

Jon Bon Jovi was honored with the MusiCares Person of the Year award, joining a prestigious list of past recipients such as Joni Mitchell, Lionel Richie, Dolly Parton, and Bruce Springsteen. Despite recently losing his mother, Springsteen attended the event and even performed alongside Bon Jovi on stage. Together, they sang Bon Jovi's country hit "Who Says You Can't Go Home" and Springsteen's own song "The Promised Land."
