  • by

Witness Jason Isbell's impressive performance of 'Wanted Dead or Alive' during a tribute event for Jon Bon Jovi.

At the MusiCares tribute to Jon Bon Jovi in Los Angeles, Jason Isbell's appearance alone hinted at the song he was going to perform. With his distinctive silhouette featuring a big hat, long coat, and double-neck guitar, it was obvious that he would be playing "Wanted Dead or Alive."

Isbell admitted on Instagram that it's easy to guess which Bon Jovi song he covered just by looking at a picture he posted on Saturday.

Although Isbell's appearance may have been more similar to Richie Sambora than Jon Bon Jovi, he gave a great performance by fully committing to the lyrics and rocking out without any sense of insincerity. While Isbell is known for his impressive vocal abilities, it was his guitar solo during his rendition of "Dead or Alive" that truly stood out and captured the essence of 80s rock.

Jon Bon Jovi received the MusiCares Person of the Year award, joining previous recipients such as Joni Mitchell, Lionel Richie, Dolly Parton, and Bruce Springsteen. Despite recently losing his mother, Springsteen attended the event and even performed onstage with Bon Jovi. They sang Bon Jovi's country hit "Who Says You Can't Go Home" and Springsteen's "The Promised Land."
