  • by

At the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year gala in Los Angeles, Jelly Roll and his wife, Bunnie Xo, made a statement about addiction with their outfit on the red carpet. It was a meaningful moment for Jelly Roll, who wanted to raise awareness about a cause close to his heart.

After overcoming his own struggles with addiction, the singer now dedicates a significant amount of time and effort to assisting others in their recovery journey. He made a statement on the red carpet by wearing a black outfit with white lettering that brought attention to the widespread issue of addiction in the United States.

Jelly Roll's shirt, as shown in a photo on Instagram by Bunnie, states that 190 individuals in the United States die each day from overdoses.

Jelly Roll performed at an event celebrating Jon Bon Jovi's charity work, where he sang "Bad Medicine" on stage. He was thrilled by the experience and shared his excitement on social media by mentioning his disbelief that his mom would not believe what he had just done.

Lainey Wilson, Shania Twain, Jason Isbell, and the War and Treaty were all present to perform at the annual Grammy Weekend event. Other highlights included a collaboration between Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen, along with various other all-star tributes.

Jelly Roll acknowledges that he struggled with drug addiction and criminal activity during his younger years, eventually serving time in prison. However, his life took a positive turn after the birth of his daughter. He went to Washington, D.C., to speak before the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee on January 11. During the hearing, he shared his personal experiences with drug use and distribution as part of a discussion on the opioid crisis.

During his testimony to lawmakers, he admitted his role in the issue at hand. He expressed a desire to now contribute to resolving the problem.

"I used to be a man without much knowledge, experimenting with drugs in the kitchen without understanding their effects. It's similar to what drug dealers are doing now, mixing various drugs with fentanyl and causing harm to our loved ones."
