During a recent episode of her talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she had been told she was at risk of developing diabetes before she decided to start losing weight. However, she did not start her weight loss journey right away.
Clarkson mentioned that she was informed that she was pre-diabetic during a conversation with Kevin James on her show. She admitted she wasn't surprised by the news, as she acknowledged being slightly overweight.
"They told me that I was at risk for diabetes, but I didn't take it seriously at first," she says jokingly. "After two years, I finally decided to take action and address the issue."
In a recent statement, Clarkson discussed her recent weight loss, attributing it to following her doctor's advice. She also mentioned that moving to New York City helped her develop healthier habits, both mentally and physically.
She mentioned that she had been feeling very unhappy in Los Angeles for a few years and was in need of a new beginning.
Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were not thriving in their previous location. The family enjoys staying active by walking around the city and taking their dogs to the park.
She credits her weight loss to her diet, stating that she consumes a balanced and healthy mix of foods. She mentioned that she follows a protein diet most of the time because it works well for her.
"I come from Texas, so I have a preference for meat – apologies to all the vegetarians out there!" Clarkson playfully remarked.
The singer made a decision to move to New York, along with relocating her TV show, after her divorce from Brandon Blackstock was finalized in early 2022.
