Kelly Clarkson Opens Up About Being Pre-Diabetic and Her Weight Loss Journey

  • by

During a recent episode of her talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson shared that she had been told she was at risk of developing diabetes before she started to lose weight. However, she did not start to lose weight right away after receiving this diagnosis.

Clarkson shared with her guest, Kevin James, that she was informed she was pre-diabetic, which didn't come as a surprise to her as she admitted being slightly overweight.

"They told me that I was at risk of developing diabetes, but I didn't take it seriously at first," she said jokingly. "After two years, I finally decided to take action and address the issue."

In the past month, Clarkson discussed her weight loss, mentioning that she lost weight by following her doctor's advice. She also mentioned that moving to New York City helped her develop healthier habits for both her mind and body.

She expressed that she had been feeling unhappy in Los Angeles for a while and was in need of a new beginning.

Clarkson moved her two children to the West Coast because they were also struggling. The family likes to stay active by taking advantage of the city's walkable areas and bringing their dogs to the park.

She credits her weight loss to her diet, stating that she consumes a balanced and healthy mix of foods. She mentioned that she sticks to her diet 90% of the time because a high-protein diet works well for her.

As a girl from Texas, Clarkson humorously mentioned that she enjoys eating meat, apologizing to any vegetarians out there.

After getting divorced from Brandon Blackstock in early 2022, the singer made a significant change by moving to New York and also relocating her TV show there.
