  • by

Presenting the latest announcement from Sennheiser: the release of the HD 490 PRO

Sennheiser has introduced the HD 490 PRO headphones, which they say provide top-notch clarity, comfort, and durability. These headphones have been designed to cater to the needs of contemporary music production.

The HD 490 PRO series guarantees a natural frequency response, providing a lively and genuine sound reproduction across all audio frequencies with a range of 5Hz to 36.1kHz (-10dB). These headphones come with two sets of ear pads that are tailored for music production and mixing. This design helps reduce ear fatigue and enables precise identification of frequencies during critical listening tasks.

The HD 490 PRO headphones feature an open-back design that incorporates neodymium magnets and Sennheiser's unique low-frequency cylinder system. This design aims to deliver a rich, precise, and well-defined bass sound while also allowing for accurate reproduction of low frequencies.

Sennheiser created these headphones with a focus on comfort by getting rid of pressure points and providing flexibility and lightweight design, making them ideal for long studio sessions. The HD 490 PRO series features Sennheiser's Open-frame Architecture, which helps decrease resonance and lower total harmonic distortion (THD).

The headphones come with a plug-in called Dear Reality dearVR MIX-SE, which utilizes spatial audio technology to create a virtual mixing space that mimics the sound characteristics of different real-life mixing studios and places when using headphone monitors.

The HD 490 PRO Plus model comes with a longer 3m cable, an additional headband pad, and a carry case.

The HD 490 PRO series comes in two options – HD 490 PRO and HD 490 PRO Plus. Both versions include the HD 490 PRO headphones and come with a 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm adapter, a 1.8 m cable, mixing ear pads, and producing ear pads. The HD 490 PRO Plus also includes an extra headband pad, a 3 m cable, and a case.

The Sennheiser HD 490 PRO headphones can be purchased currently, with the PRO version priced at $399£349 and the PRO Plus version priced at $479£399.
