Sennheiser has introduced a new product called the HD 490 PRO headphones. According to Sennheiser, these headphones are designed to provide superior clarity, comfort, and reliability, and are tailored to meet the needs of contemporary music production.

The HD 490 PRO series offers a natural frequency response, delivering a vibrant and genuine sound reproduction throughout the full range of audio frequencies with a specified range of 5Hz – 36.1kHz (-10dB). These headphones come with two different sets of ear pads, created for the purpose of producing and mixing music. This design aims to reduce ear strain and enable precise identification of frequencies during important listening tasks.

The HD 490 PRO headphones have an open-back design and are equipped with neodymium magnets and Sennheiser's unique low-frequency cylinder system. This system is designed to provide a clear, accurate, and well-defined low end sound, allowing for precise capture of low frequencies.

Sennheiser has created these headphones with a focus on comfort, aiming to reduce pressure points and provide a lightweight and flexible design that is perfect for long studio sessions. The HD 490 PRO series utilizes Sennheiser's Open-frame Architecture to decrease resonance and lower total harmonic distortion for improved sound quality.

The headphones come with a plug-in called Dear Reality dearVR MIX-SE, which utilizes spatial audio technology to provide a virtual mixing space that mimics the sound characteristics of different real-life recording studios and environments when using headphone monitors.

The HD 490 PRO Plus model comes with a 3m cable extension, an extra headband cushion, and a carrying case.

There are two options in the HD 490 PRO series – the HD 490 PRO and the HD 490 PRO Plus. Both versions come with the HD 490 PRO headphones, a 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm adapter, a 1.8 m cable, mixing and producing ear pads. The HD 490 PRO Plus also includes an extra headband pad, a 3 m cable, and a case for storage.

The Sennheiser HD 490 PRO headphones can currently be purchased for $399£349 for the standard version and $479£399 for the upgraded PRO Plus version.
