Sennheiser Unveils HD 490 PRO Headphones: A Game-Changer for Music Production and Mixing

  • by

Presenting the new HD 490 PRO headphones from Sennheiser.

Sennheiser has introduced the HD 490 PRO headphones, which are designed to provide superior clarity, comfort, and reliability for modern music production. They have been carefully crafted to meet the specific needs of today's musicians and producers.

The HD 490 PRO series guarantees a neutral frequency response, delivering a lively and genuine sound reproduction throughout all audio frequencies, with a stated range of 5Hz – 36.1kHz (-10dB). These headphones come with two sets of ear pads, created for producing and mixing music. This function is meant to reduce ear strain and enable precise identification of frequencies during important listening tasks.

The HD 490 PRO headphones feature an open-back design and are equipped with neodymium magnets and Sennheiser's unique low-frequency cylinder system. This design is intended to provide a complete, precise, and clearly defined bass sound, as well as the capability to capture low frequencies accurately.

Sennheiser created these headphones with a focus on comfort by reducing pressure points and providing a lightweight and flexible design, making them ideal for long studio sessions. The Open-frame Architecture used in the HD 490 PRO series helps to decrease resonance and lower total harmonic distortion for improved sound quality.

The headphones come with a plug-in called Dear Reality dearVR MIX-SE, which utilizes spatial audio technology to create a virtual mixing space that replicates the sound characteristics of different real-life mixing studios and locations when using headphone monitors.

The HD 490 PRO Plus model comes with a 3m cable, an extra headband pad, and a carrying case as added accessories.

There are two versions of the HD 490 PRO series available – the HD 490 PRO and HD 490 PRO Plus. Each version includes the HD 490 PRO headphones, a 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm adapter, a 1.8 m cable, mixing and producing ear pads. The HD 490 PRO Plus also comes with an additional headband pad, a 3 m cable, and a case.

The Sennheiser HD 490 PRO headphones can be purchased at the current moment, with the PRO version priced at $399£349 and the PRO Plus version priced at $479£399.
