The lead singer of Sugar Ray has verified that Kid Rock's lyrics about "getting more attention" than Mark McGrath were accurate.
The lyrics in question originated from a song called "Cocky" released by Rock in 2001 on his album with the same title. In the stanza, the lyrics mention Kid Rock identifying himself as coming from the old school and boasting about having more money than the band Matchbox Twenty and getting more attention from women than Mark McGrath.
The question about whether Kid Rock really had more romantic encounters than Mark McGrath was recently brought up by Rock Feed on social media.
Shortly after that, well-known YouTuber Finn McKenty proposed that the debate be settled by Mark McGrath, a popular singer from Sugar Ray, and tagged him in the post.
McGrath responded to the question in a lighthearted manner and confirmed that the person mentioned did indeed rhyme "ass" with his last name. He made the statement through X, which was previously known as Twitter.

If you were curious, Matchbox Twenty has not responded to Rock's claim. It would be interesting to compare the financial success of both bands, considering they have been performing for four decades.
