Sugar Ray Singer Confirms Kid Rock Lyrics Were True: Did Kid Rock Really “Get More Ass” Than Mark McGrath?

  • by

Lead singer of Sugar Ray confirms that Kid Rock's lyrics about getting more attention from women than Mark McGrath were accurate.

The lyrics were taken from Rock's song "Cocky" from his album with the same title, released in 2001. The specific part of the song contains the lyrics: "I don't know who you are / I'm Kid Rock from the old days / I have more money than Matchbox Twenty / I attract more attention than Mark McGrath."

How was the question that had been unanswered for over twenty years finally resolved? It all began when Rock Feed posted on social media asking if Kid Rock really had more romantic success than Mark McGrath.

Shortly after that, well-known YouTuber Finn McKenty proposed that Mark McGrath should be the one to resolve the argument. McKenty also tagged the lead singer of Sugar Ray in his suggestion.

McGrath responded promptly to the question with a good-natured attitude. He confirmed that the person in question did indeed rhyme "ass" with his last name, and he added that he appreciated the creativity. This response was shared by the singer on X (formerly Twitter).

If you were curious, Matchbox Twenty has not responded to Rock's other claim. It would be intriguing to see how their financial success compares, considering both bands have been successful for over four decades.
