  • by

Walmart is expanding by adding more "large" stores and installing electric vehicle charging stations. They have a strong strategy to grow their stores and improve existing locations.

CNBC has stated that the company plans to either construct or transform over 150 "big-box" stores throughout the United States within the next five years. The Associated Press has reported that Walmart has not opened any new stores in the last three years.

What does a Walmart Supercenter with a 'large-format' look like? Walmart has shared press images of their design for these new stores, but they have not announced which cities they will be located in yet.

Walmart announced that certain locations will feature their new "Store of the Future" concept, which includes more displays and QR codes for customers to scan for more information about products. The company had already been renovating 650 other locations to include this concept before making the announcement on Wednesday.

According to a statement released by Walmart president and CEO John Furner, the company's investments in labor, supplies, and tax revenue amount to millions of dollars, benefitting the communities where they operate.

CNBC reported that the company chose not to disclose the price of the stores.

Walmart has revealed that their new stores will prioritize sustainability by incorporating energy-efficient lighting and equipment into their design.

Aside from focusing on sustainability measures indoors, Walmart is also planning to revamp its parking lot. They have announced intentions to install fast-charging stations for electric cars.

Walmart is planning to create a network of fast-charging stations for electric vehicles across the country to make it easier and more accessible for their customers and employees to own an EV. This change is aimed at providing more convenience for those interested in electric vehicles.

According to CNBC, Walmart has over 4,600 stores in the United States and has a workforce of almost 1.6 million employees.
