For a limited time, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for only $10. NUSofting has recently launched a beta version of its Glitch Pad synthesizer plugin for Windows, which is available for free until the end of March.
The Glitch Pad public beta is currently accessible for 64-bit Windows in both VST2 and VST3 formats.
NUSofting usually releases their plugins for both Windows and Mac operating systems, so Mac users can expect to be able to access the software when it is officially released as version 1.0.
The roots of the plugin can be traced back many years ago to when the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch was first released in 2002.
Luigi, the founder of NUSofting, has recently revamped the initial algorithm and created a better oscillator, culminating in the development of a brand-new VST synthesizer.
The latest edition of the software is developed using C++ programming language and can be downloaded in its early beta version from the developer's website, accessible through the provided link.
The beta version is completely operational and consists of 23 pre-set options.
Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a one-click process. Users do not need to login or provide any personal information to obtain the Zip file.
A unique and nostalgic sound of the Glitch Pad has been demonstrated on YouTube through an unofficial demo.
The synthesizer would be perfectly suited for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.
The names of the presets indicate the different styles that are suggested, such as echo dream, echo pendulum, foggy voices, slow choir, and washed choir.
At first glance, the interface of Glitch Pad contains a multitude of elements to absorb and understand.
In terms of appearance and design, there is definitely room for improvement. However, it's important to keep in mind that this is a free beta version, so expectations should be limited.
Towards the lower part of the user interface, there is a keyboard and a preset selector. Above that, there is a graphical representation of the waveform.
According to the plugin's interface, users will be able to take part in the beta for a duration of two months, until the expiration date in March 2024.
It remains uncertain whether the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or released as freeware once the beta phase is complete, as NUSofting has previously released both paid and free versions of their products.
NUSofting is currently offering discounts on some of their synthesizers. If you enjoy the sound of their products, it could be worth exploring their other releases.
It is currently unknown if the synth will continue to be available for free once the beta period is over.

"You should mention in the title that this plugin is exclusively for Windows"… oh, you've already done that. I appreciate it, but it's a bit late now. The complaints from Apple users in the comments have become a well-known joke within the BPB community.

There is a similar level of snobbery among Windows users. Although I don't use a Mac myself, it is clear that the majority of people who claim to be above the whole operating system debate are actually Windows users, and they express their opinions just as frequently in the comments.

This is quite an amusing little thing. It has some interesting ideas, such as the way the pitch envelope functions. It would greatly improve if it had a Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO) for each of the destinations, and maybe more shapes, including some unconventional ones, for better randomization. Since it's still in beta, it's possible that these improvements are already being worked on, but just in case they're not… 😀

The Glitch Pad has the ability to produce impressive sounds! Luigi, the developer at Nusofting, has never received enough recognition for his work. It's truly fantastic!

That's great! However, I have a complaint. I really miss the feature called Rewire! I believe that if Rewire was still available, these beginner-level digital audio workstations (DAWs) would be much more helpful, as they could easily complement the DAWs we already use. I find it astonishing that as technology advances, such a useful feature is no longer available and has not been adequately replaced yet. Sure, there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a Bluetooth plugin, but Rewire allowed for seamless transmission and reception of MIDI and audio directly from the DAW, without any issues or latency, while keeping everything in sync.
