Get Future Audio Workshop’s SubLab For $10 and NUSofting Releases Free Glitch Pad Synth Beta: A Look at the Latest Affordable and Experimental Synthesizers

  • by

For a limited period, you can purchase SubLab by Future Audio Workshop for only $10. NUSofting has recently launched a beta version of their Glitch Pad Synth software for Windows, which is available to the public for free until the end of March.

The public beta version of Glitch Pad is currently accessible for 64-bit Windows in both VST2 and VST3 formats.

Usually, NUSofting releases their plugins for both Windows and Mac operating systems. Therefore, Mac users will most likely have the opportunity to experience the software when version 1.0 is released.

The origins of the plugin can be traced back to the release of the Glitch Pad SynC Modular patch in 2002, which occurred several decades ago.

The founder of NUSofting, Luigi, has recently reworked the initial algorithm and developed an enhanced oscillator, leading to the creation of a new VST synthesizer.

The latest edition of the software has been developed using C++ programming language and is currently in its early beta stage. Users can access the beta version by visiting the developer's website, which is provided as a link below.

The beta version of the release is completely operational and consists of 23 pre-settings.

Luigi has simplified the process of downloading the plugin by making it a one-click procedure. Users do not need to login or provide any personal information in order to obtain the Zip file.

A video on YouTube has surfaced, featuring an unofficial demo of the Glitch Pad. The demo highlights a unique and nostalgic sound.

The synthesizer would be a perfect fit for genres like ambient music, experimental soundtracks, and video game music.

The preset names suggest different styles, such as dreamy echo, swinging echo, hazy voices, slow choir, and mellow choir.

When you first look at the Glitch Pad interface, there is a significant amount of information to absorb.

In terms of its visual appearance and layout, there is definitely room for improvement. However, considering that it is a free beta version, it is important to keep expectations realistic and not anticipate too much.

Towards the lower part of the user interface, there is a keyboard and a preset selector. Positioned above that, there is a graphical representation displaying the waveform.

According to the plugin's interface, users will be able to participate in the beta for a duration of two months. The beta is set to expire by the end of March 2024.

It is uncertain if the Glitch Pad will be offered as a paid product or be released for free after the beta testing phase. NUSofting has previously released both paid and free software, so their decision is unclear at this point.

NUSofting currently has a sale on some of their synthesizers. If you enjoy the sound of their products, it might be worth exploring their other releases.

It is currently unknown if the synth will continue to be available at no cost once the beta phase concludes.

The suggestion to include the title stating that this plugin is only for Windows has already been made. I appreciate it, but unfortunately, it's too late. The comments section is now filled with apple users complaining, which has become a running joke on the BPB platform.

There is a level of snobbery associated with both Windows and Mac users. Although I personally do not use a Mac, it is clear that the majority of people who claim to be superior and dismissive about the whole operating system debate are actually Windows users. This attitude is also prevalent in the comments section.

This product is amusing and has some good concepts, such as the functionality of the pitch envelope. It would greatly improve if it had a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) for each destination and more diverse shapes, including unconventional ones, to enhance randomization. It is possible that these suggestions are already being addressed since it is in beta version, but just in case they are not, it would be great to see these improvements.

The Glitch Pad has the ability to produce impressive sounds! Luigi, the developer from Nusofting, has not received enough recognition for his talent. His work is truly remarkable!

That's great! However, I have a complaint. I really miss the functionality of rewire. I believe that if rewire was still available, these "intro DAWs" would be much more beneficial as they could easily work alongside the DAWs we already use. It's astonishing to me that as technology advances, a tool as useful as rewire no longer exists and hasn't been adequately replaced yet. Sure, there are alternatives like Ableton Link or a blutcat plugin, but rewire allowed for seamless transmission and reception of MIDI and audio directly from the DAW without any issues or latency, while keeping everything in sync.
