Enjoy a whopping 95% discount on the Electronic Music Bundle offered by Universal Audio. Additionally, The Crow Hill Company is introducing Shimmer Guitar, a guitar sample library that is available for free. This marks the fourth instrument in the FREE Vaults series released by The Crow Hill Company.
The Crow Hill Company was created by Christian Henson. If you're familiar with Christian's previous work with Spitfire Audio, you'll find the free Vaults series to be similar in style. Recently, the company launched Shimmer Guitar, which is the fourth instrument in the FREE Vaults series.
Currently, there are a total of four instruments available for free in the Vault. These instruments include the Attic Grand, R+D Strings, Celestatone, and Shimmer Guitar.
All of these instruments, as well as previous releases from Spitfire Audio, share a common feature, which is their unique personality or character.
The uniqueness of the instrument's character often arises from its specific model, distinct aging process, recording location, or a combination of these factors.
The Shimmer guitar is a unique combination of a guitar that has been aged to perfection, a classic amplifier, and the prestigious setting of one of the most renowned orchestral recording studios in the world.
The instrument used for recording was a Gibson Les Paul guitar with a hollow body, although it was not initially intended to be that way. The initial intention was to buy an old, pre-owned vintage guitar for the recording session, but instead, a Kay semi-hollow-body electric guitar was acquired.
Although it initially seemed promising, the Kay had to be exchanged for the Les Paul due to various technical problems. The Les Paul proved to be a suitable and appropriate substitute in this situation.
The sound was recorded at AIR Studios in London, specifically in Lyndhurst Hall. In order to capture the true essence of the sound, a vintage Supro tube amp was used along with the Les Paul.
The Supro amplifier did not have any built-in effects, however, there were three Marshall speaker cabinets placed on the higher level of the venue with delay effects to create the desired atmosphere.
Similar to the other instruments in the Vaults collection, the Shimmer Guitar includes six macros. These macros consist of two prominent central controls, as well as four smaller ones located below them
The main features of this device are the Filter, which is a low-pass control, and the Shimmer effect. Additionally, there are controls for Drive, which adds British-style dirt to the sound, Mod for flanging effect, Echo for echo effect, and Splosh. By reversing the Echo and Splosh settings, you can achieve a reverb effect before the delay.
Shimmer is a mystical element that connects all things, and when you combine the perfect combination of earthiness, openness, atmosphere, and purity, it produces an incredibly captivating sound.
I am enjoying the variety of instruments available in the Vault, and I anticipate that there will be even more unique and delightful additions in the future, similar to the LABS collection by Spitfire Audio.
If you haven't explored any content from Vaults yet, I recommend beginning with Attic Piano and gradually progressing to Shimmer Guitar. These delightful items are available for free!
Take a look at this offer: The Shimmer Guitar is available for free to all members of the Crow Hill Company as part of the Vaults plugins package.

Has LABS ceased to exist?

In response to the specific question, it appears that whatever is being referred to is no longer alive.
It has been seven months since the previous release of LABS, which used to be a monthly occurrence. LABS was primarily managed by Christian, and without his presence, it seems that the project lost momentum and eventually ceased.

I doubt that there will be any new releases for LABS, unless Henson unexpectedly decides to come back to Spitfire Audio. However, I'm glad that he is carrying on the LABS tradition with Vaults. It has a similar appearance and functionality to LABS, and it seems like there will be numerous additional patches available for it in the future!

Oh no! My clever scheme to incite a revolution using the comments section of a website has been foiled once again. You have outsmarted me, sir. Impressive move indeed… *the sound of thunder can be heard from afar*

I am curious as to why you removed my comment regarding Christian being transphobic. I did not say anything disrespectful; I simply wanted to educate others about who they are choosing to support.
I'm sorry
Musicians who are truly dedicated to their craft prioritize the quality of their plugins and instruments over their origin. They have responsibilities such as jobs and bills to take care of, leaving them with limited time to concern themselves with the opinions and personal lives of others.

Hello Łukasz, the article is about a virtual instrument that is available for free. Please refrain from making any comments about politics, whether it is related to gender or any other topic that is not relevant to music production. These kinds of discussions often become heated and I do not want that on BPB. There are plenty of other platforms where these conversations can take place. My goal for BPB is to provide a space where people can learn about music, engage in music-related discussions with like-minded individuals, and escape the toxicity that is common on the internet. Thank you.
